Brett's in the (Neighbourhood) House

Keynote speaker Brett de Hoedt delivered an all-day marketing workshop for 50 or so members of the Community House Network Southern this week in Melbourne.

As always, Brett took an approach that could be decribed as “Agenda-lite”.

He proudly comes with an outline of what he thinks is important to cover but allows a far higher-than-average amount of time for Q&A general discussion.

“It’s the best way to guarantee that I tackle what people want me to tackle,” says the emcee and facilitator.

“Immediately I’m likely to be of more value than if I speak exclusively about what I believe is important.”

Typically, Brett spent the entire day on his feet, walking and talking.

“The best teachers I had always moved. It keeps the audience awake and focussed and if it adds some tension from folk who’d rather not be drawn into the conversation - that’s fine too.”

This room, like most, had an abundance of questions, concerns and opinions.

Typically though, the flood was proceeded with a trickle, then a flow.

“Each room has a different dynamic but they all warm up when they see a speaker who is intererested and who offers some value.”
