Why emcee a launch when you can emcee a relaunch?

Youth Projects and Brett go way back. He’s emceed and facilitated numerous exhibitions, launches and in-house staff days for the innovative homeless services provider located in the heart of Melbourne.

He’s also media trained it’s Chair Melanie Raymond.

Today Brett helped relaunch one of Youth Project’s flagship projects The Living Room in Hosier Lane Melbourne. The Living Room is a drop in centre for homeless people like no other giving people access to everything from meals and laundry services to a GP and therapy. There’s education, training and employment on offer too. The Living Room also provides a respectful, welcoming environment, something several clients noted.

Victorian Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas spoke. Parlimentary Secretary for Housing Sheena Watt attended.

Beyond acting as emcee Brett interviewed two clients of The Living Room who testified to the impact of The Living Room on their lives. “Yeah I’ve got a place to live and a job now,” said one. Not bad.

The relaunch was a celebratory experience but it’s Brett’s handling of sensitive issues that sets him apart. As Melanie Raymond put it: “You just elevate things.” Brett will take that compliment all day. (And any other you have to hand.)
